Hallasan (νλΌμ°) is a dormant shield volcano forming the centerpiece of Jeju Island, rising to 1,950m above sea level β the highest point in South Korea.
Hiking Trails
The Seongpanak Trail (9.6km one-way, 4.5h) is the only route to the summit crater lake. The Eorimok Trail takes you through stunning roe deer habitat to the Witseoreum shelter. Trails close at 2pm β start by 8am for the summit.
Seasons
October is peak foliage season with crimson maples. DecemberβFebruary brings heavy snow, with the crater lake sometimes freezing. Spring brings royal azaleas on the upper slopes.
