Seongsan Ilchulbong (μ„±μ‚°μΌμΆœλ΄‰), meaning “Sunrise Peak at Castle Mountain,” is a 182m tuff cone on the eastern tip of Jeju Island, designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

The Hike

The 30-minute climb up 99 steep steps leads to the crater rim. The views of the green bowl-shaped crater and the ocean beyond are breathtaking at any time of day.

Haenyeo Divers

At the base, haenyeo (female free divers, ν•΄λ…€) dive for abalone, conch, and sea urchin in traditional fashion. Watch from the rocks or join a tasting session at the nearby market.
