Gyeongju (κ²½μ£Ό) served as the capital of the Silla Kingdom for nearly 1,000 years (57 BC – 935 AD) and is often called the “museum without walls” β€” UNESCO-listed royal tombs literally rise from the city’s parks.

Tumuli Park (λŒ€λ¦‰μ›)

23 enormous grass-covered royal burial mounds in the heart of the city. One tomb (Cheonmachong) is open to walk inside, displaying gold crowns and artifacts found within.

Cheomseongdae

Built in 647 AD, Cheomseongdae Observatory (μ²¨μ„±λŒ€) is Asia’s oldest surviving astronomical observatory. The 9.4m stone tower has 362 stones representing days of the lunar year.
